Hi Tim,

First, here's a direct link to the blog
post<http://blog.davidcassel.net/2012/01/sneak-peak-imagemagick-in-marklogic/>
for those who might be interested.

I haven't really touched ImageMagick in MarkLogic since I wrote the little bit
of code that the blog post is based on, so I won't be able to give you much to
work with.

Start by checking whether MarkLogic is seeing ImageMagick installed on your
system. Do you see something like this "ImageMagick 6.7.4-4 2012-01-09 Q16
http://www.imagemagick.org"; in your ErrorLog.txt when you restart MarkLogic? Or
do you see a message that mentions MarkLogic but says it couldn't be loaded?
Are you running on Linux? (I'm not sure that feature appears on all platforms.)

On the one box where I set this up, after installing ImageMagick I could do
this:

$ convert -version

… and get the expected response. I also have MagickBuiltins.so copied to
/opt/MarkLogic/lib/ (I generally try to avoid putting anything under
/opt/MarkLogic, but there it is).

Dave.

Subject: [MarkLogic Dev General] ImageMagick Plugin

Hello Everyone,

Currently I have a need to read file an image size in MarkLogic for validation.
Images are “linked” in xml stored in marklogic and rules are dependent on the
xml elements which contain references to them, which implies Xquery would be
the better way to go from a speed/manageability standpoint. I had come across
Dave Cassel’s blog showing the use of ImageMagick within marklogic and have
located the MagickBuiltins.so in the marklogic directory but have not had much
luck getting all the connections in place to do anything with it.

Has anyone had any luck/experience with enabling/using ImageMagick support or
have a good direction for me to proceed in?

The blog post I’m referencing is under the marklogic developer site, blogs,

Thanks,
Tim
