Just connect the new node to the cluster and you'll be fine. IF you create forests on the new node and attach them to an existing Database you might at some point want to do a fresh backup of the data (especially if you add new data and if you migrate existing documents to the new forest).

We are planning to add one more node to the cluster. Is there any need of backing up the existing data(from existing two nodes) and restoring it on the new node? Ideally, after configuring a new node, there should not be any back up and restore process as it is a cluster configuration. Can anyone confirm our understanding.
