Thanks all for replies.

I reproduced the same problem on Windows plateform "There is currently an
XDMP-FORESTERR: Error in reindex of forest abhinav-test: XDMP-REFRAGMENT:
     Error refragmenting xdmp:document-properties("/"): XDMP-FORESTNOT: Forest
abhinav-test-forest not available: XDMP-FORESTERR:"
But on windows plateform i restarted the server and its started working.

Where on linux plateform i solved the problem deleting the forest & database.
After deleting i recreated the database & forest and then restored database
from backups.

I have one observation on linux environment,
Under /var/run/ directory "MarkLogic.pid" file should be created when you start
marklogic and when you stop marklogic
this file should be deleted."Marklogic.pid" should be created again when you
start marklogic server.

I my case "MarkLogic.pid" is getting created on startup under /var/run
directory. But it is not getting deleted from /var/run directory when stopping
marklogic.
I am getting "permission denied" error while stopping marklogic.

I have given permission to "Marklogic.pid" file as 774 i.e. rwxrwxr, still i
am getting the same error while stopping marklogic.

What could be the reason behind it? Am i missing something?

Please suggest.

Thanks.

Hi Gary, et al,

I recently had a similar situation where the label file needed to be deleted or
renamed because a forest became unavailable after the error log had eaten up the
rest of the disk space. It required getting someone with su to take care of the
problem (which took days). I'm just wondering why this can't be cleaned up
automatically on a restart? If a forest won't remount and the resolution is to
delete or rename the label file, then why shouldn't MarkLogic simply attempt to
remove the label file on a restart, granted that the disk space is no longer
zero or that no other extenuating circumstances exist that should first be
resolved before doing so?

Abishek,

You may want to remove the label files in the forest directories that are having
issue.

1. Since the forests are not available you should be able to rename the label
files noted as label.bad or move out of directory.
2. From Admin console restart the forest. You will note the system recreates
the label file and the forest should be available again.

Hi All,

We have upgraded MarkLogic server from 5 to 6.0.4.

After upgrade we were re-indexing the database and after sometimes we found an
error as "XDMP-FORESTNOT: Forest pce not available: XDMP-FORESTERR: Error in
checkpoint of forest pce: SVC-FILWRT: File write error: open
'/local/Marklogic/Forests/pce/00013708/Label': No such file or directory
[1.0-ml]" while accessing the WebServices (REST Apis).

When checked the status of the forest , then its status was:

There is currently an XDMP-FORESTERR: Error in reindex of forest pce:
XDMP-REFRAGMENT: Error refragmenting xdmp:document-properties("/"):
XDMP-FORESTNOT: Forest pce-schemas not available: XDMP-FORESTERR: Error in merge
of forest pce-schemas: XDMP-BAD: Bad ForestLabel::check, forest=pce-schemas,

Contact support. XDMP-BAD is not a user-servicable error.
