That is probably because there is no such thing as an
element-constraint-query. You could use this instead:

<constraint name="LabDescription">
        <word type="xs:string" facet="false">
                <element ns="" name="Description" />
                {$QUERY-OPTIONS}
        </word>
</constraint>
