I’ve raised an RFE for UDP.

Wouldn’t it be great if RFEs were public (at least to customers) and we could
vote on them. Maybe that’s another RFE..

I was about to suggest the same thing, but thought better of it. Proceed
with caution.

HI Rob.

I am smacking myself in the knuckles even as I write this, but I think it's
possible to use [read: completely abuse] the custom Aggregate User-Defined
Functions<https://docs.marklogic.com/guide/search-dev/aggregate#id_53331>
features to implement your own code...

Yep, at the moment we do it outside MarkLogic but it’s not a very nice solution.

I want to be able to send timing metrics to statsd, and hopefully in the future
zipkin, both of which use UDP.

HI.

If you do not find a solution within xQuery, a possible alternative would be to
write a UDP bridge as a small python service, perhaps.

Is it possible to send a UDP message from xquery?

unsupported/non-documented is ok :)
