Announcing MarkLogic 8
======================
I'm excited to announce that MarkLogic 8 is now generally available for
download, and is our biggest release to date! It is more powerful, agile,
and trusted in every way, further defining MarkLogic as the only
Enterprise NoSQL database.

More NoSQL Agility with JSON and JavaScript
-------------------------------------------
This release begins a new phase in our roadmap by including the capability
to store JSON <http://developer.marklogic.com/features/json> natively in
addition to XML and RDF. It also includes a Node.js Client API
<http://developer.marklogic.com/features/node-client-api> and Server-Side
JavaScript <http://developer.marklogic.com/features/javascript> so you
have fast, powerful ways to access data in your language of choice.

More Intelligence in the Data Layer
-----------------------------------
MarkLogic 8 is much more than just a great developer experience, it also
pushes the boundaries of what is expected of a database with features such
as Bitemporal <http://developer.marklogic.com/features/bitemporal> and
Semantics inferencing and updates
<http://developer.marklogic.com/features/semantics>. By starting with
smarter data, you can build smarter applications.

Another Way to Get Going Fast with MarkLogic
--------------------------------------------
As part of our effort to make all of these features readily accessible, we
also created Samplestack
<http://developer.marklogic.com/features/samplestack>, a comprehensive
three-tier sample application built on MarkLogic 8 that includes
production-ready code so you can learn and see the new features in action.

Easier to Manage
----------------
Almost any management task can now be scripted through the REST API
<http://docs.marklogic.com/REST/management>. The Enhanced HTTP Server
simplifies your deployment

Replication now supports replicating based on alerts
<http://docs.marklogic.com/guide/flexrep/configuring#id_18050>.
