Hi Arvind,

Yes, looks like it. I was thinking for a minute you could transform on your way
out, but apparently not. Then again, if you are migrating data from A to B, you
can transform at copy, or transform on import into the target system.

By the way, I understood you could use mlcp copy to do bulk updates. Haven’t
tried, but it was mentioned internally as a valid use case..

Kind regards,
Geert

Subject: Re: [MarkLogic Dev General] Export and MLCP

Hi Geert,

This means we can not do custom transformation through MLCP during export if we
do not have hadoop configuration.
MLCP is for only import and export not for bulk update as CORB do.

I stand corrected.. Apparently not listed in the command-line usage of export.
Probably because:

“Pass extra setting to Hadoop when using distributed mode. For details, see
Setting Custom Hadoop Options and
Properties<https://docs.marklogic.com/guide/mlcp/install#id_76298>. This option
must appear before mlcp-specific options."

So, you must use this in combination with Hadoop, run in distributed mode, and
use special ordering of parameter options. I would suggest following the
various links to additional documentation to get a clearer picture on how this
should be used. Unfortunately I have no hands-on experience with this myself..

Cheers,
Geert
