If you are looking for an XQuery parser in XQuery, I recommand REx
Parser Generator <http://www.bottlecaps.de/rex/>.  You can find an
example of use in the EXPath Console for MarkLogic on branch
"feature/projects" in dir "src/project/" (look in "parser/lib/")
