Aren't user screw-ups the reason backups were invented?
Not only do I regularly back up my iPad directly to my iMac via iTunes,
but I back up that backup elswhere, including TimeMachine, periodic disk
clone, cloud backup (with encryption), and DVD.
(When he was in college, my son worked in the tape library -- remember
computer tape?? -- at the university computing center. They had a motto:
"If it's worth backing up, it's worth backing up twice)
