Does anyone know if there is any work on doing a debian package for J?

I do not see anything obvious at
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/ but that does not
necessarily mean anything.

I used to be a debian developer (for that matter, I helped design the
packaging system and was on the technical committee for a time). I got
out because of a mix of severe lack of time due to "real life issues",
and because every time I stated doing something someone else would
jump in and release a version of what I was working on.

I think things are quite a bit more locked down now. If I were to do
the debian submission process myself, I would probably need to
generate a new pgp key, and get it signed by people. But if there's no
activity on packaging J, it's not all that difficult to do.

And another possibility might be to put together the package and let
someone else run it through the submission process.

That said, there would also be the issue of what should be packaged.
Since any new package would be going into unstable, I imagine that a
j8 instance would be best? [Subject to change, after feedback from
people at debian, of course.]

Thoughts?

Thanks,
