A quick search found many gripes about iPhone text editing, but I failed to 
finding hour glass specific. The only other place I see the problem is when 
positioning the cursor in the j log also. 

I noticed (but did't understand) a comment in your ...ios/ios.ijs code mention 
of a CSS trick to avoid problems re rey
