Under MacOS Sierra (10.12.4) I’m using anaconda with python 3.6.0.

After installing jkernel per instructions at
http://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/Scripts/jkernel
<http://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/Scripts/jkernel>, I edited its qjide.cfg to
point to J806 beta 3.

Contrary to the instructions on how to run kernel to connect a jupyter notebook
to J, I must:

  (1)  use Anaconda-Navigator.app, not the now-deprecated Anaconda Launcher;

  (2) from there, launch application jupyter notebook (4.3.1), apparently the
new name for what the jkernel instructions call “ipython-notebook”.

I then uploaded to the local server that starts the file
Rain_Temperature_Interactive.ipnyb.

At this point I see a “Kernel starting” message but then quickly get a “Kernel
restarting” pop-up message, then a “Dead kernel” pop-up message.
(Specifically, “The kernel has died, and the automatic restart has failed.” And
attempting to restart the kernel using the “Try restarting now”button leads to
the Dead kernel” error again.

How fix?
