That is unreleased beta work, which is why others don't reproduce the
errors. Your report is valid. Thanks.

Apologies for forgetting JVERSION in my first post (and messing up the
threading on this reply--I had digests enabled). Here is what I have:
Engine: j807/j64/linux
Build: GPL3/2018-11-04T19:16:57
Library: 8.07.19
Platform: Linux 64
Installer: j8-git-8.07.19.20181104-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz (Arch Linux package)
InstallPath: /usr/lib/j8
Contact: www.jsoftware.com
Also, I tried building a fresh copy from the latest commit on the master branch
of https://github.com/jsoftware/jsource. Surprisingly, that version gives a
slightly outdated JVERSION and still has the bug:
Engine: j807/j64/linux
Build: GPL3/2018-12-06T17:38:14
Library: 8.07.07
Platform: Linux 64
Installer: unknown
InstallPath: /tmp/jsource/jbld/j64
Contact: www.jsoftware.com
I even tried TIO.run, which does detect the syntax errors:
Engine: j806/j64/linux
Release: commercial/2017-11-06T09:54:01
Library: 8.06.09
Platform: Linux 64
Installer: J806 install
InstallPath: /opt/j

Maybe it's just a bug with my system? For my fresh build, I followed the
commands in the Arch PKGBUILD
(https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=j8-git), skipping the
jqt and jenv (not sure what this is even for) steps.
