I did change the default shell successfully so it did work for me, but it was awhile ago and I can’t remember if it was this exact article. However I have been using jqt.
From memory it required a call to the OS within zsh (perhaps check the alternative methods above in the same article) but that link suggests just changing in settings should work. Easy to verify, make the change, open a Terminal window, you should be in bash.
