Eric-- Since I use the "code" wiki site almost exclusively, the left menu with "donate" on it was unfamiliar to me. That button does give access to the same PayPal dialogue which Henry had mentioned, and I had used.
I tried it again. After clicking on "Donate Now", it replied: "We need a password to create an account for you. Use at least 8 characters." After careful consideration, I ran through it once again, but omitted checking "Save this information". It did complete! It's not clear how much PayPal guidance we should offer potential button-clicking donors, but some may not be as persistent as I have been. I do still think there could be more effective direction(s) to the button (or buttons?). A further exasperating complication to my efforts was that Firefox autofill did supply much of my contact data correctly, but somehow persuaded PayPal that my address was in Morocco! I finally entered all the data manually. Many thanks. --Art > Date: Mon, 28 Dec 2020 10:14:31 -0500 > From: Eric Iverson <[email protected]> > To: General forum <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Jgeneral] Donating > > I do not understand why you are having such difficulties with this. > Jsoftware does get donations so the system does work. > > Finding the donation button: > 1. browse to www.jsoftware.com > 2. click "Get Started" > 3. click "Donate" in left menu column > 4. click "Make A Donation" > > Making a donation: > 1. enter an amount in the field that is 0.00 initially > 2. click "Donate with a Card" (assuming you not a paypal member) > 3. fill in the card info required fields > 4. click "Donate Now" > > Note: there is no need to be a paypal member and unless you use paypal > frequently for a variety of things there is no reason to be a member. > > Note: if paying with a credit card it does not ask for nor need any > password. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
