I tested this, just now:

  ~$ echo $PATH
/Users/rauldmiller/Applications/j903/bin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/Users/rauldmiller/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/opt/X11/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current/Commands
  ~$ type -a jconsole
jconsole is /Users/rauldmiller/Applications/j903/bin/jconsole
jconsole is /usr/bin/jconsole
  ~$ jconsole
   i.3 3
0 1 2
3 4 5
6 7 8

(The other jconsole is the java console...)

Anyways, I am not sure what problem you are facing,

Thanks,
