Current development focuses on gcc and clang with clang usually being
preferred for development as it catches problems (which can turn into
portability issues) which gcc ignores.

In the general case, there's no specific IDE used for development,
though visual studio is often used (especially when dealing with
windows specific code). Command line tools and simple text editors
also get used..
