To whom it may concern,
This is in the nature of due diligence. I’ve found workarounds for the
problems described below and am not asking for help; nor am I currently
pursuing any further inquiries into them. However, I do feel that something
has happened to wd in the beta and that it might benefit from investigation by
an expert.
1) I got reports from multiple 9.5 users of wd windows freezing on launch under
Windows (they were fine on the Mac). For unknown reasons, switching from an
isigraph control to an isidraw control (and making the extremely minor
adjustments necessary to handle painting) fixed that problem.
2) On my Mac (but not on another Mac on which it was tested), under 9.5, wd
dialogs would appear for a few milliseconds before being spontaneously
dismissed with the default selection. Switching to isidraw fixed this issue,
too.
3) wd ‘pshow maximized’ and wd ‘pshow fullscreen’ aren’t consistent across the
two versions on either Windows or the Mac. (One is supposed to produce a
maximized window without chrome; the other a window with chrome that takes up
the whole screen.) I’ve gotten around this by checking the version explicitly:
if. version < 950 do. wd 'pshow maximized' else. wd 'pshow fullscreen'
end.
That gives consistent, desired behavior across versions on both the Mac and
Windows.
Again, I’m fine—I have no complaints and am not out to prove anything. But I
believe wd is acting oddly in the 9.5 beta and can’t help wondering whether
there might be other, as-yet-undiscovered issues.
