The srcdir is the root of the checked out CVS/SVN module. parent means relative to the value given in the basedir attribute of the workspace definition of this Gump instance. Usually, one level higher than the srcdir, but it doesn't have to be. I'm not aware of any descriptors using the parent attribute.
