Thank you, Chris, thank you to the rest of Lucy's Mentors (Chris Hostetter, Upayavira, Mike McCandless and Joe Schaefer), and thank you to all the individuals who have built up the institution of the Apache Incubator over the years, including the present membership of the Incubator PMC. I currently work for Eventful, in San Diego, California, as a backend engineer. The majority of my time is dedicated to working on open source at Apache, principally Lucy. I feel fortunate to have such a great job, and it would please me to see more people get jobs like mine. Before I went into software, I worked for a recording studio, doing stints in graphic design and prepress and as an audio mastering engineer. My background is in music, and my happiest moments as a programmer come when I make intuitive leaps reminiscent of successful musical improvisations. As a self-taught developer, I have consumed a great deal of tutorial and reference documentation, trawled through many mailing list archives, and sought to insert myself myself into many learning opportunities. Participating in the incubation of a project at Apache has been one of the most intense and enriching of these experiences; I am grateful for what I have learned here, and now I look forward to contributing what I can to the Incubator's podlings and accumulated wisdom.
