I'm hoping to be able to apply those that don't make the cut towards other 
Apache projects in need (where possible).

Actually, I was hoping we'd be able to have an open period for the public to 
voice their opinion prior to the selection committee.
Per the timeframe:
 - 20 Feb --call for entries closes - 27 Feb --voting ends (this would be the 
public vote) - 13 Mar --announce winning design (this would be after the 
selection committee reviews and picks the winner) - 3 April --winning logo 
rollout (after we'd work with the winning designer to make any 
adjustments/tweaks as needed)
Does that make sense? Does this work for you?
