Hi Xuan, Thanks for looking into this, but the reasoning doesn't hold, and I'd ask you to fix the NOTICE file rather than keep the current wording.
What other projects have in their NOTICE files is not precedent. ASF policy is documented in the ASF Source Header and Copyright Notice Policy [1], not in the wording of other projects' repositories. If other projects use "and onwards", that means those projects have also deviated from the documented format, and nobody has corrected it yet. An uncorrected mistake elsewhere doesn't make the same mistake acceptable here; it's a reason to raise the issue with those projects, not to copy it. The documented format is a plain year range: "Copyright [yyyy]-[yyyy] The Apache Software Foundation", covering the actual years of the ASF's contributions. "And onwards" also has no legal meaning, as a copyright notice records years of publication and can't claim years that haven't happened or works that don't yet exist.
