You might want to look at OJB (objectbridge.sourceforge.net) which is
similar in architecture to JDO and a JDO adapter/wrapper is planned.
Thomas Mahler (lead dev on OJB) doesn't feel it will be a problem
technically, there is also a proposal for making the JDO layer that will
work over top the OJB core.
