I want this to remain a separate API so that it can be used within a number of projects including some work I'm doing now and in NewsMonster 2.0

Commons also has an RSS package:

Could you briefly explain how the FeedParser stands out over the commons implementation...

I saw that ... it seems to take a vastly different approach to RSS than in FeedParser.


I didn't comment because it seemed very different from a generic RSS API but I will of course take a look at it now.
