You don't have to do all this just download and install the following:

1) libxine1-1.0cvs-050101.i686.rpm
(http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/libxine1-1.0cvs-050101.i686.rpm)

2) w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
(http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm)

3) xine-ui-0.99.3cvs-050304.i586.rpm
(http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/xine-ui-0.99.3cvs-050304.i586.rpm)

then at the command line you type:
xine mms://----------Your linke goes here-----------------

if youre using kaffeine/totem I think giveing it the url will also work.
