If they hadn't made some super uber changes to it, John the Ripper is
still a dictionary brute force tool and nothing more.
It has been around for years and if you dont use stupid passwords like
"iwantmymommy" you shouldnt be worried about it, anyway, if someone
can read your shadow file then you really shouldn't be worried about
passwords brute force cracking because you are already screwed.
