Dear Network Members On behalf of the University of Petra & the Steering Committee of Get Connected UK Jordan, I am writing to extend you an invitation to participate in the July Networking Event scheduled to take place at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 26 July at the University of Petra. Our Guest Speaker for this event is Professor Ali Yaghi, Dean of Evening Studies, University of Petra who will talk about the EQUAIP* Project and its Impact on Computer Science Education in Jordan. The University of Petra kindly responded to the invitation extended by the Project Steering Committee during the May Networking Event calling on the IT academic and business sector to take charge of holding these monthly events in order to ensure their sustainability once the project has come to an end. We hope that you share our views that these events have provided an active platform that allowed IT professionals to discuss issues that concern them and we count on your support to help us identify Speakers and Hosts for future events. Professor Yaghi holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Jordan, an MSc in Mathematical Logic from Leeds University and a PhD in Computer Science from Warwick University and undertook post doctorate fellowships at Warwick and Manchester Universities - UK. Prior to joining the University of Petra in 1991, Professor Yaghi worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science at Kuwait University. * EQUAIP (Enhancement of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning at Arab Universities) is a project sponsored and initiated by the United Nations Development Programme / Regional Bureau for Arab States (UNDP/RBAS). The project, launched on 1 January 2002, is intended to asses the quality and impact of academic programmes in Arab universities. The first cycle of the project focused on Computer Science programmes in 15 Arab public and private universities, two of them were Jordanian. In his talk Professor Yaghi will cast some light on the components and phases of this project and on its impact on Computer Science education in the region in general and in Jordan in particular. Could you kindly confirm your attendance latest by 20 July 2005. May we also count on your support to bring this event to the notice of any of your colleagues whom you believe would be interested in joining this Network. Please ask them to confirm their participation to me direct, so that we can add their contact details to the Network database. Looking forward to hearing from you, Yours sincerely Hind Hind Samman Manager, Exchange of Persons British Council, First Circle, Jebel Amman PO Box 634, Amman 11118, Jordan Tel. +9626 4636147 Fax +9626 4656413 M +96279 5792299 www.britishcouncil.org.jo -- abulyomon www.KiLLTHeUPLiNK.com _______________________________________________ General mailing list [email protected] http://mail.jolug.org/mailman/listinfo/general_jolug.org
