I believe you should be looking at something called md5sum.

Here you go, I believe this is helpful:

http://userpages.umbc.edu/~mabzug1/cs/md5/md5.html (i think it has code implementations in different langs)

(you can also get the RFC file from the above sites)

 

Now I am not sure of bittorent has its own checksum algorithm, but I’d stick with md5

As its pretty much a good standard J (IMHO).

 

Guys feel free to punch in, as I am sure there are more knowledgeable people out there
in this topic.

Hello everybody,
Does anybody know how the bittorent hashsum is implemented? or where i can find information about it?
I've been asked to write a procedure that does the exact same thing, and i have no idea what's that all about...
