As an alternative to a connection to jconsole you can connect it jwd. See User Manual|Developing Applications|Emacs.

Subject: [Jgeneral] Emacs walkthrough?

Hello everyone,

I have Cygwin and XEmacs set up now. Can anyone give me a walkthrough of how to set it up to provide a J mode (highlighting, etc) and a connection to JConsole?

I've seen this http://j-mode.sourceforge.net/ and tried to set it up, but I did it wrong, and it doesn't highlight anything. And I don't even know how begin with giving myself an interactive J window.

-Dan

PS: JConsole's readline history doesn't work when shelling in via Putty. Arrow keys (or their escape sequences) simply produce spelling errors. That includes using <- to move left on a line. Is there a solution for this?
