I suggest it would be worthwhile at this stage in your J investigations to
use the Dictionary and other resource materials. Look up ? in the
dictionary and you would quickly see discussion of 9!:42 through 45.
If you are not yet comfortable or familiar with using the reference
materials, then time spent gaining that experience will give you enormous
leverage in climbing the learning curve.
There is too much traffic in the forum for it to be used for general
inquiries that a sufficiently experienced user can figure out on their
own.
Low level general inquiries are welcomed from complete beginners, but
there comes a time to graduate to the next level.

In these cases the RL changes with each call and the changes to the seed
number are to simulate random varition tho of course since there is n
algorithm behind it it is not truely random
I can't remember what I entered but I think I was invoking a phrase from
one of the exercises that was meant to be sorting a list in random order
but successive executions did not reset the seed--I kept getting the list
in the same order.
What is happening here?
