A few weeks ago I walked into a Mac store and was astonished to learn how rapid the change to the intel platform has been. I bought a Mac/Intel for the port. Assuming there aren't unexpected problems there will be a native J601 for Mac/Intel in a few weeks.

Subject: [Jgeneral] J 6.01 on Intel Mac

Now that J 6.01 has been released, will a J6 version for Intel Macs be developed?

As noted in the thread last May (http://www.jsoftware.com/pipermail/beta/2006-May/001109.html), jconsole runs (presumably under emulation), but jw fails with an error in jni. Hopefully, recompiling the current jni code would allow it to run on the Intel platform. J 5.04 runs fine, about as fast under emulation on my Macbook Pro as it did under my PPC laptop.

About 1/3 of the Mac users in my department have switched to Intel machines, and most of the rest will be on the new platform within the next year. I'm anxious to move my software to J 6.01, but won't be able to until we have a version of J6 that runs on the Intel Macs. Any guidance on a time line for J6 on the Intel Macs will be greatly appreciated.
