list. I have done quite a bit of fractal programming in C and
Python (Python is great because of the complex number routines
built-in!), but J appears to be even more versatile in this
regard.

Is it possible to combine Python and J easily?

Maybe just to get an executable Python to call J and do parts in each and
possibly mix with C?

I was on a Python presentation last week and it looks like many question
Python gets is about Python being mostly interpretative just like J.
That does not seem to stop Python user base from growing nicely.
There is a lot of interest in Python here especially since there are guys
here who created
http://www.eve-online.com/ and http://www.dohop.com/
using Python mostly and some C

Just a handful of people doing quite a good job.

Without me knowing much about Python it looks to me they have a good
interface to the Web to do presentations of result and interactions which is
something I have been missing from J.

One of the reasons I am interested in looking at a Python / J combination.
