What is a functional form in J?
Any adverb or conjunction that accepts
at least one verb, and the two syntactic forms (hook, fork)?
Then J has another advantage (over former APLs, e.g.):
user defined functional forms.

Whereas the advantage over latter APLs is
compositional argument-less forms, which is
very functional in the sense that they preclude
state retension and imperative step-wise execution.
