Well Alex... I could fulfill all your points since I rarely have a clue
about what I am doing.
But it so happens that I am the one who has the least intensive "no clue"
feeling around here (Chicago).
Compared to the posts I recall from you I am in "baby steps mode" and I
have been doing it for over 33 years now.

My remedy is to take a ukulele and do some sing-along with a bunch of
"really no clue whatsoever" people that I love.

But there is a possible solution to your problem... What about an
international J-User group which uses some of the modern teleconference
software (or maybe hook it up to J)... Give it some though and "just do
it" "a la Nike".

You can always count on me to keep your familiar feelings and I can even
throw some insane French "no clue" remarks for your entertainment so that
you feel really good to "not be so clueless as me"... ;O)

Sigh.

I sometimes really wish that I have someone to discuss J with here in
the Philippines over a cup of coffee.

Most of the times, whenever I have some problems related with J ... it
just sort of fall in into one of these:
1. I discuss it with someone and get a blank look.
2. I discuss it with someone and get useless inputs.
3. I search JSoftware website with Google or search my email with
Copernic Desktop search.
4. I just brute force to problem. Square-peg-round-hole solution.
5. I just hack it and hope that the bubble gums stay stuck.

I hope you guys have a nice evening during the meeting. :)

All interested in J are welcome!

If you've learning a new language, especially one as rich as J, it's
valuable to talk about it face-to-face with people. Even if you already
know a language well, it's often illuminating to explain things to those
less knowledgeable than you.

The general format of our meetings is as follows:

18:30 - 19:00 Beginner's regatta - we cover topics on basic
  facilities of J

19:00 - 19:30 Show-and-tell - attendees are encouraged to show
recent code on which they've been working in order
to show off, and to solicit advice and sympathy.

19:30 - 20:00 Advanced topics - we look at more advanced features
  of the language.

20:00 - 20:30 Learning and teaching J - we're distilling our own
experiences to help others get a handle on J and
improve our own knowledge of it.

20:30 - ? General talk, drink beer, go home, eat dinner, whatever.

These broad areas are structured and ordered so that you may arrive or
leave earlier or later depending on your particular interests.
