It seems that there are problems with some threads but I think it mostly not
properly formed messages. I have the same problems in my mail client too.
Nabble has rudimentary abilities to correct some thread errors (you can see
some thread icons overcrossed - it means that nabble tried to position this
message automaticaly). Maybe gmail have more powerfull algorithm of
correcting thread problems.

Having a digit after a user name means that there are several users with the
same name but different e-mails. This works over all forums in nabble
database, so it means that user share the same name with someone other or
that he uses different e-mails.

My choice is mostly matter of taste. Sometimes I need access to forums via
web and I just like nabble slightly more than over mail-list services. Also
I think it just unfair that over languages that I like have their archives
here, while J not. So I decided to correct this situation :-).
And yes, posting is possible directly via nabble web interface, but you have
to add your account to system. For example this answer I'm writing in
browser.

Gmane is pretty good too. And maybe it has more functionality as it exists
for more period than nabble.
I hope nabble now has the most complete archive of J forum messages -
special thanks to J forums administartor Chris Burke.
