I run J601 on a Dell Axim X50V (64 MB RAM), Windows Mobile 2003 SE. I recommend 128K (I've been out of memory a couple of times) but at least 64K, and >= 1GB SD/CF card to store apps in and leave as much RAM free as possible (the Axim x50 has just over 90 MB of built-in flash ROM as well that's available to the user). The X50V has a full VGA (640x480) screen - this makes a tremendous difference in terms of displaying information. So the other recommendation is get a device with at least VGA resolution. (Generally, you'll need a program like OzVGA to put the PDA into VGA mode and supply the appropriate system fonts for 96 dpi.) You'll be hard pushed to find a new PDA that doesn't have WLAN or Bluetooth (I use the latter for controlling my Lego Mindstorms NXT robot) Stuart -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Richard Donovan Sent: 29 October 2007 11:56 To: General forum Subject: [Jgeneral] J on a Pocket Devices I am intending to upgrade my Jornada Pocket PC to something a bit more powerful and that will run current and future J releases (the Jornada will not run J6). J would be one of the prime uses of the new device. I would be grateful to anyone currently running J6 on a Pocket device to advise me of what to buy. I don't need it to also be a cell-phone or have any other bells and whistles; just a vanilla Pocket PC with the latest operating system would suffice as long as it runs J6 (and Pocket Word, Pocket XL and Microsoft Reader). I would also appreciate it if the J developers could say whether in their opinion they intend to continue to support and develop J for pocket devices, and if so, what minimum specs I should be looking for. Thanks in advance _________________________________________________________________ 100's of Music vouchers to be won with MSN Music https://www.musicmashup.co.uk--------------------------------------------------- ------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
