One obvious difference is that 2: is a function, in the mathematical
sense, while 6!:0 is not a function.

In fact, 2: corresponds to the polynomial 2&p. except that its domain
has been extended to cover literals and boxes.  Meanwhile, 6!:0 is not
a function -- let alone a polynomial -- over any domain, as 6!:0 depends
on the computing environment.

(This is probably going over ground you have already thought about, but
I think it's worth mentioning.)
