Trivia from history, remembered because of recent comments in 'programming'

One of the earliest official releases of APL had x*.5 always being 1, so I had to use x*.499999. Clearly they trapped *.5 and went to a bad special case square root.

My earlier smuggled version, and a later proper release, both worked correctly.
