My experience with J and XP64 is thet J64-602 runs pretty similar to
J602. I have not succeeded map files larger than 2 GB. However J64
can handle larger data arrays. So I have changed the approach so that
I split the data to < 2 GB files and construct the larger arrays in J.
All this consumes temporarily a lot of memory, but the work is done.
Remember also that the 64-bit data takes double space compared to 32 bit data.

I am unclear on what things will and won't change if I get a 64-bit machine.
In particular,
Will functions in the files library be able to deal with files with
more than 2^31 bytes?
Will I be able to have mapped files representing J objects larger than
2^31 bytes?
