Richard,

Just so you don't feel like you've been left hanging: there is no PDF version
of the (current) DoJ.

Of course, you could always create one from the HTML pages. I think there are
some automated tools out there to do that; but I don't expect the result will
be very pretty without a lot of manual post-processing.

Can I ask why you want a printed manual? As I see it, the DoJ is meant as a
reference (i.e. it's not meant to be read linearly), and online help is much
more convenient for that purpose.

Unless you're talking about non-reference material in the Dictionary, like the
Introduction and the Sample Topics? If you intend to print those out to read
offline as a way to learn J, then I have other suggestions.

Grab copies of "J for C Programmers" and "Learning J", both available on the
Wiki as PDFs:

http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/HenryRich?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=JforC20071003.pdf

For the purpose of learning the language, these books have advantages over the
DoJ: they can be printed out, they're designed to be read linearly, and
they're verbose :)
