        Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement. It
turns out that I plotted in the reciprocal of the correct
figure, and consequently my analysis is backwards. In fact
the kilobytes/message has *increased*, not decreased as the
plot of the following command shows at this url.

        Regarding your suggestion to make the plot more
informative, my main lack of knowledge is how to put onto
the horizontal axis tic mark labels that are alpha
characters like
O5
N5
D5
J6
F6
...

I seem to recall another person on the list struggling with
this feature also, but have not yet found the archived
thread.
