It is always the trend for the leading vendor to try to protect the turf
when something new comes around.
They try to shut the users into their surrounding and make it difficult not
to use their products.

I recently got a powerpoint called pptx and it wanted me to register at MS
and also I was supposed to get a permission from them to open it and as it
happened the original owner had registered it so I could not open it.
I tried to use a conversion service from zamzar who offer to change pptx to
ppt or pdf or html but they failed because it was registered to an owner.
It always backfires when a vendor becaomes too cocky and trie to lock in the
users.
I am sure chrome will attract many users tired of ie.
I went over to firefox to get rid of ie dependency a long time ago and it
was difficult many times when especially MS did not want to do upgrades if
you did not use ie and non standard products.

Chrome is a new way of thinking in browsers and I am sure MS will do their
utmost to spoil for them and make life dificult for a while.
