Actually, I prefer  

    need ddcon@:,&.>~ < 'dsn='

because it's shorter and it will "obviously" work on nominal data.  

Also, I really only use the  x foo L:0  ...  form when I'm trying to save 
typing i.e. it's shorter than  (<x) foo &.> ...  ).  But in this case "..." is 
a name, so we can rewrite the expression without lengthening it too much.  

Of course, it's only one word shorter than  (<'dsn=') ddcon@:,&.> need .
