I like the idea of engaging new users by letting them try J without having to 
download and install any software. Embedding an IRC channel in the website with 
the IRC bot is nice but by itself it may be a bit frustrating/daunting to brand 
new users interested in exploring J. I suspect it would be most valuable for 
users who have made the decision to go the next step and will benefit from 
discussing J ideas and concepts with more experienced users.

Brand new users probably need something more like a guided tour - much like a 
number of the J labs.

If a similar system could be used to make some of the J labs available to users 
"in the browser", it would be a valuable addition to the J community.
