I like the idea of engaging new users by letting them try J without having to download and install any software. Embedding an IRC channel in the website with the IRC bot is nice but by itself it may be a bit frustrating/daunting to brand new users interested in exploring J. I suspect it would be most valuable for users who have made the decision to go the next step and will benefit from discussing J ideas and concepts with more experienced users. Brand new users probably need something more like a guided tour - much like a number of the J labs. I came across this site recently and really enjoyed the experience: http://tryruby.hobix.com If a similar system could be used to make some of the J labs available to users "in the browser", it would be a valuable addition to the J community. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
