Aha! (and thank you Ian): if I uncheck the "allow pages to use their own fonts" then even without the APL font, things look great (I tried CourierNew). Of course it's a bit of a nuisance to have to reset this when you've printed from the wiki: I wonder if there isn't some way of setting the wiki defaults that makes all this unnecessary?
