I copied this from a JHS session. If you copy this and paste it into a JGTK
window you should see the rectangles.
By the way. The exponents for 1 2 and 3 display fine in JGTK.

1x⁰ + 7x¹ + 21x² + 35x³ + 35x⁴ + 21x⁵ + 7x⁶ + 1x⁷
