Experiences with j701a accessed via JHS (under Mac OS 10.6)

Engine: j701/2011-01-10/11:25
Library: 7.01.044
Platform: Darwin 32

1. Save (esc s) in an editing session works as expected for a new file name.
Its second use in that session, however, almost always creates a second file
with the same name, in the same directory(!). Following consecutive saves all
go to the second version. (When changing from another directory back to one
with a doubled name, then Save for that name will not be accepted.)

2. Action "Save as" saves a new file, and shows the new name just above the
log, but does not rename the tab (or window?) in the browser. Subsequent Saves
(esc s) do not adequately update the new-named file.

3. In a jijx session window, after running jhelp in the link menu, using esc-f
to peek at a file, or visiting some other site, using Back to reach the ("same"
instance of the) session can substantially truncate the record.

4. When viewing a succession of scripts in multiple windows or tabs, returning
to a file not currently displayed can nonetheless produce a warning that it is
already open. Options to close, save and close, or simply to "capture" would
help, if those cannot be handled automatically.

5. In the beta release, jlog 0 cleared the jijx session screen, but it does not
in j701a.

6. Command-z does not restore a changed text in an editing window, and Restore
is not listed under the Action menu.
- - - - -
7. Deletion or insertion in a jijx-window sometimes leaves anomalous
positioning of newlines, perhaps because of an invisible leading (control?)
character.
 - - - - -
8. A Reader button appears in the Safari destination field, but does not appear
in Firefox. I could not readily find mention of it on the JSoftware site.
 - - - - -
9. In some circumstance, I found the link/action/option toolbar scrolling out
of sight with the lengthening log display.
- - - - -
10. After encountering some type of error in plotting with Google Chart, a
second jijx window will show (some of) the session in an inner frame,
surrounded by "tool" pictures. There are no instructions or special buttons
regarding management of that frame.

11. Typing in an editing window for a 135Kb file is tedious, taking more than
one second to respond after each character (fully occupying one processor on a
MacBook Pro).

12. Interrupt messages from ajax should hint at what ajax is, and whether the
issue is timing or something else.
- - - - -
13. When switching between tabbed windows, the cursor always jumps to the
bottom of a jijx window. This is convenient in some modes of work, but a
nuisance in others. Is there an option flag for that action?

PLEASE: Do not use a Reply which copies the whole list. Copy the section or
two of interest into a new message, and mention the JHS Comment number(s) in
the Subject field. Thanks.
