I agree that the contents of the bat file are location independent, but the shortcut to the bat file isn't. So if you move the J folder you won't need to update the contents of the bat file, but you will need to update the Start menu shortcut that points to the bat file.
Alternatively you could just point the Start menu shortcut at jconsole.exe (with the appropriate options) and update that if the folder moves? What am I missing?
