Without testing the way you do it I assume the firewall is something you need to change there as well. It depend on the defaults on the system you work with/on. It used to be very relaxed earlier in the Dos old days. I guess newer systems come more closed as a default. Vista was pretty hated among many because it changed/closed many security issues W7 is similar to Vista. Looking at support the XP and Vista are being dropped as well as Dos and W7/8 taking over from M$. Linux and Mac have always been more secure than dos was. It is similar with the browsers. You have to watch out for the cookie settings/popups etc. There are some popup considerations to think about in Canvas/JHS.
I have closed to possibility for flash to save anything on my machine. I hade to deny flash this looking at your presentation.
