A while ago, some of us were bemoaning the innate depravity of human 
nature as it manifested itself in some of the events related to 
Katrina.  It's now being reported (which is also hearsay:) that at 
least some of the worst of those events never happened:

Those of us who jumped at our conclusions just a little too hastily 
might wish to reconsider the value of hearsay versus the value of 
doing our own thinking for ourselves.
